How to set up an invitation to create a play dough flower garden?

The basic idea is pretty simple and straight forward. First you create a garden patch out of play dough, then you collect a number of items to ‘plant’. Present it all in a sweet way and your kids will happily take it from there.

Creating a Play Dough Flower Garden

An open ended activity like creating a play dough flower garden is a great way to encourage creativity and imaginative play. Kids can build, sort, stack, bury, create and explore their little hearts out. And when they have had enough, you simply get all the little things out, pat the garden bed down and start all over again.

There is no right or wrong and no other purpose than the one children set for themselves. This is loose parts play at it’s cutest.

My own children sure rose to the challenge and amazed me with their ingenuity and out of the box thinking. Do enjoy watching what will happen in your home or classroom. I have no doubt it will be spectacular!

Play Dough, Loose Parts and Spring

Whoever invented play dough deserves to be honored with a box of chocolates. My children absolutely adore it. Its easy to make and there are A TON of play possibilities. Our absolute favorites are the fairy forest and mini ocean world.

Adding loose parts to any mix is always a good idea if you want to encourage any kind of creative thinking. The Theory of Loose Parts states “more is more” and we couldn’t agree more in our family. Have a look at our inventor’s box and our tinker box or check out more loose parts play ideas here.

With spring FINALLY around the corner you might be on the lookout for some fun spring activities. You will love our Rainbow story basket and this gorgeous invitation to create a bird nest. Your kids will be doing a happy dance just looking at the images!

Wishing lots of sunshine this week, enjoy!
